What is lug type butterfly valve?-Belo Valve

Lug type butterfly valve, also called wafer lug type butterfly valve, is one of butterfly valves. The structure of lug type butterfly valve is almost same as the wafer type butterfly valves, the difference is that the lug type butterfly valve has more bolt-connect holes on its valve body, otherwise, usually the wafer type butterfly valve has only four connection holes on its valve body. 

The lug type butterfly valve can be driven by manual lever handle, worm gear box, electric actuator, and pneumatic actuator. And for connection, lug type butterfly valve has flange lug type butterfly valve and wafer lug type butterfly valve. According to different structure, lug type butterfly valve has center line lug type butterfly valve, single eccentric lug type butterfly valve, double eccentric lug type butterfly valve, triple eccentric lug type butterfly valve. For different sealing material, lug type butterfly valve has soft sealing lug type butterfly valve and metal hard sealing lug type butterfly valve. The pressure range of lug type butterfly valve can be PN0.1Mpa-10.0Mpa. The nominal diameter of lug type butterfly valve can be DN40mm-DN2000mm. The body material of lug type butterfly valve can be cast iron, ductile cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel; 

How lug type butterfly valve works?

The disc of the wafer lug type butterfly valve is installed in the diameter direction of the pipeline. In the cylindrical channel of the butterfly valve body, the disc-shaped butterfly plate rotates around the axis, and the rotation angle is between 0°-90°, when it rotates to 90°, the lug butterfly valve is fully open.

Applications of lug type butterfly valve: 

Lug type butterfly valves are widely used in SO2, steam, air, gas, ammonia, CO2 gas, oil, water, brine, lye, seawater, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid in chemical, smelting, pharmaceutical, food and other industries, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and other media pipelines to work as adjustment and shut-off devices; 

The do’s and don’ts for lug type butterfly valve: 

①  the lug type butterfly valve should be stored in a dry, ventilated room, and both ends of the valve passage should be blocked; 

② for lug type butterfly valve which is going to be stored for a long time, should be checked regularly to remove dirt. Special attention should be paid to the cleaning of the sealing surface to prevent damage to the sealing surface. 

③ before installation, it should be carefully checked whether the valve mark of the lug type butterfly valve is equal to the use requirements; 

④ check the valve channel and sealing surface of the lug type butterfly valve before installation,if there is any dirt, it should be wiped with a cleaning cloth; 

⑤ before installation, check whether the packing of the lug type butterfly valve is pressed,ensure the tightness of the packing, and at the same time which won’t hinder the rotation of the valve stem; 

⑥ During installation, the tightening force of the connecting bolts should be even and appropriate; 

⑦ this lug type butterfly valve can be installed on horizontal and vertical pipelines, and the installation position should ensure that it is convenient to operate, maintain and replace; 

⑧ when the manual lug type butterfly valve is opened or closed, the handle should be used to open and close, and auxiliary bars or other tools should not be used; 

⑨ the lug type butterfly valve should be checked regularly to check whether the sealing surface is worn or not and the state of the gasket packing. If any items damages or fails, repair or replace them in time;
