There are mainly five types of check valves: the first is lift check valve, the second is swing type check valve, the third is butterfly check valve(wafer type check valve), the fourth is compression check valve, the fifth is line check valve.

Among them, the lift type check valve is divided into two types, one is vertical lift check valve, the other is horizontal lift check valve.The swing check valve can be divided into three types: the first is multi-disc swing check valve, the second is double-disc swing check valve, the third is single-disc swing check valve. 

How to install a check valve? 

1. When installing the check valve, you must observe in details whether the arrow mark on the check valve is consistent with the flow direction of the medium inside the pipeline. If not, the check valve should be re-installed. Usually, that two directions must be the same. 

2. when installing the check valve, it is absolutely not allowed to put any thing else on the check valve, otherwise, the check valve will easily be crushed, which will affect the check valve’s normal use. If the check valve is relatively large, it should be supported independently, so that the check valve will not be affected by the pressure in the piping system. 

3. After the check valve has been used for a long time, it is easy to be damaged, so it is recommended that you should install the check valve closer to the water pump outlet, and also install a shut-off valve above the check valve, to make it easier to inspect and repair the check valve in the future.
