What is foot valve? 

Foot valve,or bottom valve, also known as non return valve, is a low pressure flat valve. Its function is to ensure that the liquid flows in one direction in the pipelines. So the water pump can work normally. When the pump stops working intermittently for a short time, the liquid cannot flow back to the water container to ensure that the suction pipe is always filled with liquid, which will facilitate the restart of the pump. 

Foot valve/bottom valve is actually a check valve, which is also installed to prevent the back-flow of water. 

According to the material used, the foot valve can be divided into plastic foot valve and metal foot valve, and also can be divided into ordinary foot valve and foot valve with backwash water flow. 

Bottom valves are mainly used in water pump, and other mechanical equipment for handling slurry. Usually, the bottom valve is installed at the bottom of the underwater suction pipe of the pump to prevent the back-flow of the slurry.
