Can gate valves be installed upside down?

Generally, there are no directional requirements for the installation of gate valves. but gate valves cannot be installed upside down.

Gate valve, also called sluice valve, sluice gate valve, water gate valve, is one kind of industrial valve which has one valve plate perpendicular to the direction of the fluid flow. that plate moves up and down inside the gate valve body to control the opening and closing of the valve. Gate valves can only be opened and closed fully, so gate valves cannot be used for regulating.

Types of gate valves:

for different shaft structure, gate valves can be divided into rising shaft/OS&Y gate valves and non rising shaft gate valves.

With different body material used, gate valves can be divided into cast iron gate valves, ductile iron gate valves, carbon steel/WCB gate valves and stainless steel gate valves.
