What is a bottom valve? 

The bottom valve, also known as foot valve, is a low pressure flat valve. The function of bottom valve is to ensure that the liquid flows in one direction in the suction pipe. So that the water pump can work normally, when the pump stops working intermittently for a short time, the liquid cannot be returned to the water source tank to ensure that the suction pipe is filled with liquid to facilitate the restart of the water pump. 

Bottom valve, also called foot valve, is actually one kind of check valve, is used in the pipeline systems to prevent the back flow of the water. 

According to the material used, bottom valve can be divided into plastic bottom valve and metal bottom valve, and bottom valve can also be divided into ordinary bottom valve and bottom valve with backwash water flow. 

Bottom valves are mainly used in sump pump and other mechanical equipment for handling slurry. Usually, bottom valve(foot valve) is installed at the bottom of the underwater suction pipe of the water pump to prevent the back flow of the slurry. 

The bottom valve(foot valve) has multiple water inlets on the valve cover and is equipped with a screen mesh to reduce the inflow of debris and reduce the probability of blocking the bottom valve. Although the bottom valve is equipped with a anti-clogging screen mesh, the bottom valve(foot valve) is generally suitable for cleaning mediums, and the mediums with excessive viscosity and particles should not use the bottom valve. 

The bottom valve is an energy-saving valve. It is generally installed at the bottom end of the underwater suction pipe of the water pump to limit the return of the liquid in the water pump pipe to the water source, and the bottom valve has the function of only allowing the water entering and preventing the water from flowing back. There are many water inlets and reinforcing ribs on the valve cover, which are not easy to be blocked. Bottom valves are mainly used in pipeline for pumping water. 

Bottom valve has single disc bottom valve, dual disc bottom valve and multi disc bottom valve, flange bottom valve and threaded bottom valve.
