The advantages and disadvantages of butterfly valve-Belo Valve

Butterfly valve,also called butterfly type valve, is one kind of industrial valve which uses a disc-shape opening and closing part to reciprocate at approximately 90° to open ,close and regulate the flow in plumbing systems. 

Butterfly valve has soft seal butterfly valve and hard seal seal butterfly, center-line wafer butterfly and eccentric butterfly valve, for eccentric butterfly valves, there are single eccentric butterfly valve, double eccentric butterfly valve and triple eccentric butterfly valve( also known as triple offset butterfly valve. for connection difference, butterfly valve has center line wafer butterfly valves and flange butterfly valves; with body material difference, butterfly valve has ductile cast iron butterfly valves, WCB butterfly valves, stainless steel butterfly valves, Al-bronze butterfly valves;

Advantages of butterfly valve: 

①butterfly valve has simple structure, small size, light weight, it is material saving, couldn’t be used for large diameter pipelines; 

②butterfly valve can open and close quickly and has low flow resistance; 

③Depending on the strength of the sealing surface, butterfly valve can be used for both medium with suspending solid particle, and powdery and granular mediums. Butterfly valve is suitable for two-way opening, closing, adjustment of ventilation and dust removal pipelines. Butterfly valves is widely used in gas and water delivering pipelines in metallurgy, light industry, electric power, and petrochemical systems. 

Disadvantages of butterfly valves: 

①the flow adjustment range of butterfly valve is not large, when the opening degree reaches 30%, the flow enters more than 95%; 

②Due to the limitation of the structure and sealing material of butterfly valve, it is not suitable for application in high temperature and high pressure piping systems. The general working temperature of butterfly valve is below 300℃，and working pressure below PN40;

③the sealing performance of butterfly valve is worse than that of ball valves and globe valves, so butterfly valve is used in places where sealing requirements are not very high;
