Globe valve, also known as stop valve, is a mandatory sealing valve. So when the globe valve is closing, pressure must be applied to the valve disc to force the sealing surface not to leak. When the medium enters the globe valve from the down part of the valve disc, the resistance which the operating force needs to overcome is the friction force between the valve stem and the packing, and the thrust generated by the pressure of the medium. So the force to close the globe valve is greater than the force to open the globe valve, so the diameter of the valve stem should be large, otherwise the failure of the top of the valve stem will occur. According to the connect method, globe valve is divided into three types: flange globe valve, threaded globe valve and welded globe valve. After the appearance of the self-sealing valves, the medium flow direction of the globe valve is changed from the top of the valve disc into the valve cavity. At this time, under the action of the medium pressure, the force to close the globe valve is small, but the force to open the globe valve is large, and the diameter of the valve stem can be adjusted into smaller ones accordingly. At the same time, under the action of the medium, this form of globe valve is also tighter. When the globe valve is opened, the opening height of the valve disc is 25% to 30% of the nominal diameter of the globe valve. When the flow rate has reached the maximum, which indicates that the globe valve has reached the fully open position. Therefore, the fully open position of the globe valve should be determined by the stroke of the valve disc.
Where the globe valves are widely used?
1. the globe valve should be selected on the pipeline or devices of high temperature and high pressure mediums, such as thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, high temperature and high pressure pipelines in petrochemical systems.
2. Globe valve can be used on pipelines that do not require strict convection resistance. That is, where pressure loss is not considered;
3. Small valves can choose needle valves, gauge valve, sample valve, pressure gauge valve,etc;
4. Globe valve is suitable for pipelines where the flow adjustment or pressure adjustment are necessary, but the requirements for adjustment accuracy are not high, and the diameter of the pipeline is relatively small, such as the pipeline with a nominal diameter DN≤50mm.
5. Small fertilizers and large fertilizers in synthetic industrial production should choose high pressure angle globe valve or high pressure angle throttle valve with nominal pressure PN160 or PN16Mpa, or PN320,PN 32Mpa.
6. In the desiliconization workshop in the production of alumina Bayer process, on the pipelines that are prone to coking, it is advisable to use a DC-type globe valve or a DC-type throttle valve with a separate valve body and a cemented carbide sealing pair where the valve seat can be removed.
7. For water supply and heating projects in urban construction, globe valves, balance valves or plunger valves can be selected for pipelines with smaller nominal diameters, such as pipelines with nominal diameters less than 150mm.
