Advantages and disadvantages of butterfly valve-Belo Valve

Butterfly valve is one kind of flapper valve, which is usually used for flow regulation and cut-off in low pressure pipeline system. The butterfly valve has simple structure, is mainly composed of valve body, valve stem, valve plate, sealing ring,etc. Butterfly valve is also very easy to operate. The butterfly plate is driven by the valve stem. If it rotates 90°,the butterfly valve complete one opening and closing. By changing the deflection angle of the valve disc, the flow rate of the medium can be controlled; 

Butterfly valve and valve stem have no self-locking ability. In order to locate the butterfly plate, a worm gear reducer should be installed on the valve stem. The application of worm gear reducer can not only make the butterfly plate have self-locking ability, so that the butterfly plate can stop at any position, but also improve the operation performance of the butterfly valve. The characteristics of the industrial butterfly valve are high temperature resistance, high applicable pressure range, large nominal diameter of the butterfly valve. The valve body of the industrial butterfly valve is made of carbon steel, and the sealing ring on the valve disc is using the metal ring instead of rubber ring. The large diameter high temperature butterfly valve is welded with steel plates, mainly used for flue air duct and gas pipeline of high temperature medium; 

According to different end connections, butterfly valve can be divided into wafer type butterfly valve and flange type butterfly valve. According to different structure, butterfly valve can be divided into center line butterfly valve(also called concentric butterfly valve), eccentric butterfly valve( single eccentric butterfly valve, dual/double eccentric butterfly valve, triple eccentric butterfly valve). according to sealing material, butterfly valve can be divided into soft sealing butterfly valve(with sealing material like EPDM or PTFE), metal hard sealing butterfly valve( its sealing material is one kind of metal ring). According to operating methods, butterfly valve has manual butterfly valve(operated by lever handle, or handle wheel, worm gear actuator), electric butterfly valve( operated by electric actuator), pneumatic butterfly valve( operated by pneumatic actuator).

Advantages of butterfly valve: 

① the opening and closing of butterfly valve is convenient and quick, labor saving, and the fluid resistance of butterfly valve is small, which makes the butterfly valve to be operated frequently. 

② butterfly valve has simple structure, small size and light weight; 

③ with simple structure, the material used in butterfly valve is small, which makes the butterfly valve widely used in large diameter industrial valves; 

④ under low pressure working conditions, butterfly valve can achieve a good sealing performance; 

⑤ butterfly valve can be used to transport slurry, with minimal liquid accumulation at the pipe mouth. Butterfly valve can be used for medium with suspended solid particles, and also for powdery and granular medium depending on the strength of the sealing surface. Butterfly valve can be used for two-way opening and closing and adjustment of ventilation and dust removal pipelines. And is widely used in gas pipelines and waterways of metallurgy, light industry, electric power, and petrochemical systems; 

⑥ butterfly valve has better regulating performance; 

Disadvantages of butterfly valve: 

① the operating pressure and operating temperature of butterfly valve is small; 

② the sealing performance of butterfly valve is poor;
