Knife gate valve is also called slide gate valve, knife type gate valve, knife blade gate valve, knife edge gate valve, slurry gate valve, mud gate valve. The opening and closing part of knife gate valve is one blade-like plate, whose movement direction is perpendicular to the flow direction of the medium. The knife gate valve is using the sharp blade-like plate which can cut off the fiber to shut off the medium flow. 

The valve plate of the knife gate valve has two sealing surfaces, generally, that two sealing surfaces of the valve plate form a wedge shape. The wedge angle varies with the parameter of the knife gate valve, usually that wedge angle is 5°. the gate of the wedge type knife gate valve can be made into a whole, which is called a rigid gate; the gate of the wedge type knife gate valve can also be made into a gate that can produce a small deformation, so as to improve its manufacturability and compensate for the deviation of the sealing surface angle during processing. This kind of gate is called elastic gate.
